About Kim Fertig
I've walked this road too.
My journey into eldercare coaching began with my own family — and a deep desire to make sure no woman has to figure this out alone.
How I came to this work
When my own mother began to need more care, I found myself overwhelmed, exhausted, and completely unprepared. I was juggling my own life while trying to be everything my mother needed — and I had no roadmap. I made mistakes, felt guilt I couldn't shake, and spent countless nights wondering if I was doing enough.
That experience changed me. I became passionate about learning everything I could about eldercare — the emotional landscape, the practical systems, the family dynamics, the medical decisions. I trained as a coach specifically to support women in this role, because I knew how desperately I had needed someone in my corner.
Today, I bring both professional training and lived experience to every coaching relationship. I understand the weight you're carrying — because I've carried it too.
My philosophy
Caregiving is an act of love. It deserves to be supported.
I believe that when a woman is supported in her caregiving role, everyone benefits — her parent, her family, and herself. My approach is grounded in compassion, practical wisdom, and deep respect for the complexity of this season of life. I don't offer one-size-fits-all solutions. I offer a partnership — tailored to your unique family, your unique parent, and your unique needs.
Compassion first
Every session begins with listening. Your experience is valid, your feelings matter, and you deserve to be heard without judgment.
Practical wisdom
Emotional support and practical guidance go hand in hand. I help you feel better and do better — at the same time.
Dignity for all
I hold deep respect for your aging parent's dignity and autonomy, and I help you honor that in every decision you make.
Your wellbeing matters
You cannot pour from an empty cup. Part of my work is helping you care for yourself so you can care for your parent.
